DESCRIPTION
In the wake of the emerging electrification trend, Marelli Motorsport expands its series of control units with the VCU-320, a brand new device fully devoted to electric vehicles. The VCU-320 Vehicle Control Unit is a powerful and complete concentrated system capable of managing high performance electric chassis vehicle. It incorporates a powerful data acquisition unit tailored to racing applications, which require high-resolution data, high bandwidth and a large number of channels. The unit can drive a large number of additional loads through H-Bridge and Half-Bridge. Half-Bridge can manage loads up to 48 V. The communications capability is assured by 8 CAN lines, 1 Ethernet line (100 Mbit/s) for data transfer to other units and a 1 Ethernet line (1 Gbit/s) for fast data download.
The logic architecture consists of a powerful Quadcore automotive processor for data logging, telemetry and communications, while a high performance DualCore microcontroller manages calculation, control and actuation. For a total computation, power of over 2,500 Dhrystone MIPS. The VCU-320 is equipped with a variety of analogue inputs including single-ended, temperatures and differentials, together with digital inputs for lap trigger, VRS-Hall and Hall-Rate inputs.
