Product Overview

Dual inertial platform with bank angle algorithm

MAIN FEATURES
• 2 internal 3-axial accelerometers (scale up to 55g)
• 2 internal 3-axial gyroscopes (scale from 250 °/s, up to 2,000 °/s)
• 2 CAN lines

DESCRIPTION

This evolved measurement unit has been improved to bear the increased stress of high performance race vehicles in terms of vibration and temperature. Thanks to its double set of sensors (3-axial accelerometers and 3-axial gyroscopes), it is particularly reliable in harsh
conditions, guaranteeing a source of key information with no saturation or resonance, even in the event of partial or total breakdowns. Double CAN communication lines create a fully redundant system, while SW selectable terminals facilitate wiring loom design and installation.
Additionally, the different types of integrated fixing offer a variety of mounting possibilities.
The device is extremely reliable as it is able to determine roll and pitch angles with extreme precision. Bank angle estimation is provided for motorbike application (in this case, the device requires vehicle speed information via CAN line). The unit’s mechanical design is fully compatible
with the Marelli DIP-120 module, allowing for seamless device switching. As from the 2019 season, the IPS160 is being used as unified Inertial Platform System in MotoGP™ and Moto2™ championships.

INSTALLATION

Mounting
• It may be advisable to fix the case by the use of silent block for shock absorbing.
• It is suggested to be mounted as closed as possible to the Centre Of Gravity (COG).
• In general, mounting affects measures quality and overall precision. It is recommended to design and verify it carefully

Orientation
• Main surface must be parallel to the ground.
• X, Y and Z axis directions must be respected, as shown on module case.

NOTE: the described orientation is mandatory for proper computation of bank angle.
