Product Overview

Dual inertial platform with bank angle algorithm and GPS

MAIN FEATURES
• GPS and GLONASS receiver operating @10 Hz
• 2 internal 3-axial accelerometers (scale up to 55g)
• 2 internal 3-axial gyroscopes (scale from 250 °/s, up to 2,000 °/s)
• 2 CAN lines

DESCRIPTION

The IPS-190 combines the typical features of the IPS-160 with a GPS-GLONASS receiver for positioning. The device incorporates a professional grade GNSS receiver and provides simultaneous GPS and GLONASS measurements in support of the external active antenna. Beyond this, the features are the same as for the IPS-160 unit: a double inertial platform, both with 3-axial accelerometers and 3-axial gyroscopes, particularly reliable in harsh conditions (such as high temperatures up to 105 °C and vibration peaks of over 55g peak-to-peak), guaranteeing a source of key information with no saturation or resonance, even in the event of partial or total breakdowns. Two CAN communication lines generate a fully redundant system, while SW selectable terminals facilitate wiring loom design and installation. Furthermore, the different types of integrated fixing offer a number of mounting possibilities.
The device is extremely reliable as it is able to determine roll and pitch angles with extreme precision. The unit’s mechanical design is fully compatible with the Marelli DIP120 module, allowing for seamless device switching.

INSTALLATION

Mounting
• It may be advisable to fix the case by the use of silent block for shock absorbing.
• It is suggested to be mounted as closed as possible to the Centre Of Gravity (COG).
• In general, mounting affects measures quality and overall precision. It is recommended to design and verify it carefully.
Orientation
• Main surface must be parallel to the ground.
• X, Y and Z axis directions must be respected, as shown on module case.
• The antenna must be installed in such a way to have direct visibility of the sky, with a view angle as wide as possible (ideally a semi-sphere).

NOTE: the described orientation is mandatory for proper computation of bank angle.
